Net Metering allows electric ratepayers who install renewable energy systems in their homes or businesses to connect those systems to the electric grid and sell the power they generate to their electric utility. This policy known as “net metering,” is designed to encourage individual investment in those systems by improving the rate of financial return on that investment.
